Preface to the 2016 edition The Encyclopedia of the Medieval Chronicle first appeared as a print edition in 2010. In April 2012, the first on-line edition appeared as part of Brill's Medieval Reference Library, reproducing the text of the print edition unchanged. In April 2014, ten new articles were added. These were items which had been planned for the first edition but were either delayed or omitted. The 2016 version is therefore the second on-line edition.
