Salians, a German noble and royal dynasty, with lands primarily in the area around Worms and Speyer. The name, derived from (Lex) Salica, means “Frankish” with an emphasis on nobility; it was associated with the family since the 12th century. There is fragmentary evidence of a genealogical relationship with the Widonid-Lambertiner lineage, linked to the Frankish imperial aristocracy of the 8th and 9th centuries.
