Jean Servion is the author of a chronicle known as Gestez et chroniques de la maison de Savoie, which records the history of the House of Savoy from its origins to Count Amadeus VII. Jean’s father, Henri, likely settled in Geneva at the end of the 14th century and became a wealthy merchant and hotelier. Henri was also a member of the ruling elite, as he was elected elected mayor (syndic) of the city in 1409, 1422, and 1426.
