Orsi, Giacomo

c.1450–1520 (?). Italy. All the information that we have about Orsi comes from the chronicle that he wrote between 1488 and 1490. Born in Candelo (Piedmont) around the mid-15th century, Orsi worked as schoolteacher in Biella. In his work, he states that he was asked to write the chronicle of his city by the local City Council in order to record the conflicts and rivalries between the cities of Biella and Andorno (modern-day Andorno Micca). Although there is no documentary evidence, it is believed that Orsi died in 1520.
