fl 1372-1425. Italy. Veronese schoolmaster. Author of De gestis modernis (on modern events), a compendium of historical anecdotes about the della Scala and Carrara lords in the late 14th century. By 1372, Marzagaia was employed as a preceptor at the Scaliger court in Verona, where he numbered Antonio and Bartholomeo della Scala among his pupils, with whom he studied Valerius Maximus's collection of memorable deeds and sayings from the first century ad.
