1498-ca 1577. Southern Germany. Former priest, proof reader for a printing press and bookseller, and author of a substantial chronicle of the city and bishopric of Konstanz and several other works. As a well-versed writer and scholar, Gregor Mangolt concerned himself with the Roman past of his home town as much as with the recent cataclysmic events of the Reformation and political change in Konstanz. His close connections to leading reformers at home and in Zürich and his extensive travelling made him a well-informed chronicler.
