Crawinkel, Johannes

15th century. Germany. Johannes Crawinkel O.P. joined the Dominican house in Dortmund in 1450, where he composed a chronicle of the order. During his nearly sixty years with the Dominicans in Dortmund, Crawinkel enrolled at the University of Erfurt in Thuringia in 1465 and received a magister degree in theology in 1470. He died ca. 1508.

The Chronica conventus Tremoniensis Ordinis Praedicatorum relates events in Dortmund and other Dominican houses in North Rhine-Westphalia (Werden, Essen, Recklinghausen, and Soest) in the years 1330-1500. It survives in …
