Chronicon breve prioratus de Altis Vallibus

This is not a connected historical narrative but a series of historical notes on the Augustinian priory of Altavaux or Hautevaux (now Tavaux, Haute-Vienne), a dependent priory of the abbey of La Couronne (Charente), written in the margins of a 12th-century inventory of the relics owned by the priory.

The notes form a kind of diary of significant events in the priory’s early history, from the arrival of the original community from La Couronne in 1180 down to the death of Foucauld, abbot of La Couronne, in 1287, and a fragment…
