1450-ca. 1510. Italy. Bindaccio de' Cerchi was born in Florence on October 24, 1450, as the son of Michele di Consiglio and Maria di Domenico Lamberteschi. He came from an ancient Florentine family and as such, he resented the Medicis' attempt to monopolize power. After marrying Alessandra Sommai in 1471, he pursued a business career in banking. He was elected as one of the signori of Florence in 1481, and three years later, he joined the Balia (a committee in charge of military and police matters).
