[Paulus Florentinus, Paolo Fiorentino]

ca 1445-1499. Italy. Paolo Attavanti was born in Florence around 1445. At age seven, he became an oblate at the basilica of the Most Holy Annunciation (Santissima Annunziata) in Florence. In 1456, he entered the Servite Order and changed his name from Francesco to Brother Paolo. By 1467, he was already a magister in theology and, by 1470, doctor in utroque (doctor in canon and civil law). In 1472, he became a member of the college of theologians in Siena.
