, Abu ’l-ʿAbbās Aḥmad b. Yaḥyā b. Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Wāḥid b. ʿAlī (834-914/1431-1508), Mālikī jurist and muftī , born possibly in the Ouarsenis (Algeria, Ar. Wans̲h̲arīs [q.v.]), where he grew up and pursued his education. His family belonged to one of the numerous Berber tribes which populated these mountains.
