Town in Lucania on the border with Samnium (Liv. 27,2,4; Νουμίστρων/Noumístrōn: Ptol. 3,1,74; Νομίστρων/Nomístrōn: Plut. Marcellus 24,6), present-day Muro Lucano (province of Potenza), site of a battle between Claudius [I 11] and Hannibal (210 BC.; Liv. 27,2,10; Plut. loc. cit.; Frontin. Str. 2,2,6). Inscriptions: CIL X 1, 433-443. Archaeology: pottery, remains of a polygonal ring wall and a memorial (3rd cent. BC).
