German classical philologist. Born Konrat Fürchtegott Z., Breslau, 12. 1. 1884, died Göttingen 8. 1. 1974. Studied classical philology and history in Breslau 1902–1905, doctorate there 1905, habil. 1907. 1910 prof. ext., 1920 prof. ord. in classical philology. 1923–1933 prof. in Greifswald, 1928/29 rector of the Univ. 1933 dismissed, 1939/40 incarcerated. 1945 Landrat; from 1946 teacher, from 1950 honorary prof. at Göttingen, 1966 prof. ord. there.
