German Humanist and jurist. Born Konstanz 1461, died Freiburg 24. 11. 1535. 1481–1483 studied at Tübingen, primarily artes liberales. Then became episcopal notary at the officialate of Konstanz, then town clerk of Baden (Aargau, Switzerland). 1494–1496 and again 1502 town clerk of Freiburg (Breisgau), spending the intervening period as director of the Freiburg Lateinschule and studying law at the faculty of law there. 1501 doctorate, 1506 prof. ord. in law (lectura ordinaria legum).
