French scientist and architect. Born Paris 25. 9. 1613, died there 9. 10. 1688. Brother of Charles Perrault. Studied medicine in Paris, doctorate there 1641. 1666 founder member of the Académie des sciences; 1667 member of the Petit conseil on the reconstruction of the Louvre, appointed by Jean Baptiste Colbert.
