Born Lodelinsart (Belgium) 12. 9. 1918, died Ankara 23. 9. 1961, in a plane crash that also killed Hans Schaefer, Hans-Hermann Rohrbach, Peter Sattler, Leo Teutsch and others [15. 843]; [17. 16–19]). 1935–1939 studied classical philology, history and ancient Near Eastern languages at Univ. Libre in Brussels, teachers including Henri Grégoire, Roger Goossens and Claire Préaux.
