German draughtsman and gemmologist. Born Meissen 29. 9. 1702, died Dresden 28. 3. 1785. Short school education. From 1719, apprentice to a glassmaker at Pirna. Employment as a scribe in Dresden while attending the drawing school of Heinrich Christoph Fehling in the city. Trained as a porcelain painter in the Meissen manufactory.
