German classical philologist. Born Königsberg 14. 1. 1802, died there 9. 6. 1878. Studied classics at Univ. of Königsberg from 1818, doctorate there in 1823. 1823 schoolteacher at Danzig, 1824 at Marienwerder, from 1825 at Königsberg. 1831 habil. on Aristarchus; from 1845 prof. ord. in classical philology at Univ. of Königsberg.
