Born Johann Wilhelm Adolf K., Berlin, 6. 1. 1826 in Berlin, died there 27. 2. 1908. 1842–1846 studied classical philology at Univ. of Berlin with Karl Lachmann and August Boeckh et al. Doctorate 1846 [1], then schoolteacher in Berlin. 1860 member of the Royal Prussian Academy of Sciences. From 1865 prof. of classical philology at Univ. of Berlin.
