German philologist, bibliographer and theologian. Born Leipzig 11. 11. 1668, died Hamburg 30. 4. 1736. Studied at Leipzig from 1686; 1688 MA, then 1699 doctorate in theology at Univ. of Kiel. From 1699, prof. at Akademisches Gymnasium in Hamburg; 1708–1711 rector of Johanneum, also Hamburg.
