Hugo Donellus; French Humanist and legal scholar. Born Chalon-sur-Saône 23. 12. 1527, died Altdorf (Nuremberg) 4. 5. 1591. Studied law at Toulouse and Bourges; 1551 doctorate and prof. there; 1572 fled to Geneva. From 1573, prof. at Heidelberg; 1579–1587 prof. at Leiden; 1588–1591 prof. at Altdorf.
