Italian researcher of catacombs and Christian archaeologist. Born 1575 or 1576 on Malta [3], son of Giovanni Ottone B., died Rome 6. 9. 1629. As a youth, he was sent to Rome to his uncle, Giacomo B., the historian of the Knights Hospitalier. Studied literature, philosophy and law at Collegio Romano; laurea 31. 1. 1594. Thereafter lawyer to the Knights Hospitalier. Studied the Roman catacombs from 1593 [4. individual data 138–155].
