Bongarsius, Jacobus; French historian and diplomat. Born 1554 at Orléans, died 29. 7. 1612 at Paris. School in Orléans, then 1564–1571 at Heidelberg, Marburg, Strasbourg. Studied law from 1576 at Bourges; 1585–1610 in diplomatic service of Henri de Navarre (from 1589 King Henri IV of France) in Germany.
