Aldrovandus, Ulysses; Italian naturalist, antiquarian and physician. Born 11. 9. 1522 [5. 1], died 4.5.1605 in Bologna. From 1539 studied classical philology, logic and law at Bologna, doctorate of law there 1546. 1547–1549 studied mathematics, philosophy and medicine at Padua, doctor of medicine and philosophy there 1553. From 1554 prof. of logic and natural philosophy, from 1561 of natural sciences, both at Univ. of Bologna.
