al-Qawm, 13, Shaʿbān 1407/April 1987; the whole issue is devoted to Shaykh Muḥammad al-Fātiḥ and the Sammāniyya.
Educated at al-Maʿhad al-ʿilmī in Omdurman, he worked to train reciters of the Qurʾān. He succeeded his father as head of the Qarībiyya Sammāniyya.
He worked actively to propagate the Sammāniyya; among those to whom he gave an ijāza was the Nigerian scholar, Nasiru Kabara (see further, Loimeier (1991), 165-74).
