Seventh Emir of Kano, reg. 1894-1903. He was a grandson of the amīr al-muʾminīn ʿAlī al-Kabīr (Aliyyu Babba) and grew up in Sokoto as a student of the Islamic sciences. He took power during the Kano Civil War (the basāsa), ousting Muḥammad Tuƙur the son of Muḥammad Bello the fifth emir, and secured the succession for the descendants of ʿAbd Allāh b. Ibrāhīm Dābo.
